恭喜发财 / 恭喜發財
I’m hoping the characters above are wishing you happiness and prosperity. I cannot read Chinese characters so I’m relying on the kindness of the internet. I do know that February 8th, the Chinese New Year, ushers in the Year of the Fire Monkey and brings a fresh opportunity be a better you, with a new round of resolutions, productivity goals, fitness challenges and the merciless crushing of old, bad habits.
In order to keep my resolutions in mind this time, I’ll be sporting a Red Fire Monkey necklace, featuring a monkey charm that I ordered from China (which must be auspicious). I made two, so if you’d like a Fire Monkey talisman to keep you on track this year, you can find it here.

Since I refuse to be a niche* blogger, today I am posting about an app that earns Google play store money. And by doing that, it allows me to buy useless (as well as highly functional) apps with virtually no agonizing.
The app is Google Opinion Rewards and, as you can see from the last screenshot, I’ve earned $15 or so since starting earlier this fall.
PROS: None of the little surveys take more than 1 minute or so, the money seems to add up quickly, you can use it to buy books, music, apps, in-app purchases or movies in the Google Store.
CONS: It is for Android users only. You must use the earnings within one year, some surveys earn only 10 cents, and, rarely, some earn you nothing.
* for the love of god, please pronounce it “nitch” not “neesh”.

I finally finished my little book about a vegan Thanksgiving. My editor has a few corrections I still need to make, but I thought I’d wait and see what other feedback I get. Also, I didn’t save .psd files of the pages so it’s going to be a pain to revamp.

This is so creative and fun. I guess you need 2 phones/cameras. I’ll try my own at the next trip to the National Gallery.

Neat system that I’m trying with my new Moleskine (the company says to pronounce it however you want, but I like mole-ah-skeen-a ; it’s so continental).
